Charlotte Bedford, Richard Bedford, Elsie Ho
NZAID commissioned a research team of Charlotte Bedford (University of Adelaide), Richard Bedford (Waikato University), and Elsie Ho (Auckland University) to undertake a literature review of relevant research on the social impacts of short-term employment-related migration. The review spans global literature but with a particular focus on studies relevant to the Pacific. The review discusses observed and potential social impacts (both positive and negative) at the individual, family and community level. A key emphasis is placed on the gendered nature of impacts.

The study explores current available literature on the relative health, social and economic costs of diabetes, and the respective points of intervention, identifying the costs and benefits of prevention and early stage management versus the treatment of end-organ disease. The purpose of the study is to guide future policy and programming of NZAID investment in addressing diabetes.
