Cambodia and Lao PDR | Application process
and timeline
New Zealand Development Scholarship applicants from Cambodia and Lao PDR apply directly to a management contractor in their home country. The management contractor will:
- Distribute then receive preliminary application forms. See the relevant country information sheet for the close-off date.
- Check applications against NZDS eligibility criteria, then in consultation with NZAID shortlist candidates for study in New Zealand.
- Send shortlisted candidates the NZDS application form to complete and return with all required supporting documentation.
- Send completed NZDS applications for shortlisted candidates to NZAID’s Scholarships Unit in Wellington, New Zealand, by 30 June.
NZAID will advise the management contractor of the outcome of the NZDS applications between September and November.
-
Depending on the level of a candidate's IELTS exam result, the management contractor will either:
- offer successful candidates a NZDS scholarship, then assist them with their travel arrangements to New Zealand and their visa application (for study commencing February the following year); or
- provide English language training in the home country for a set period of time. If they then reach the institution’s required English language level, the management contractor will offer successful candidates a NZDS scholarship, and then assist the candidate with their travel arrangements to New Zealand and visa application.
