20 November 2009 marked the 20th anniversary of adoption by the United Nations (UN) of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Convention sets out the basic human rights for children everywhere, including the right to survival; to develop to the fullest; protection from harmful influences, abuse and exploitation; and to participate fully in family, cultural and social life. read more
